About the MPDI
The Peace and Development Initiative in Mezam is an initiative of The North West Regional Assembly aimed at building peace and sustainable development through strengthened community systems.
The North West Regional Assembly is a local governance institution created by a presidential decree within the context of the special status of the North West Region as provided by Article 62 of the constitution of Cameroon.
U na mi, Mi na U, Wi na wi
The Regional Assembly covers the same territorial boundaries of the North West Region as an administrative unit composed of 10 representatives each from the 7 divisions of the region and 20 traditional rulers elected by their peers in the House of Chiefs.
By virtue of its creation, composition and status, the Regional Assembly is a deliberative organ with Divisional representatives reflecting the gender and sociological components of the region to enhance social and economic development.
